Privacy
Short version: your documents stay on your device. There are no accounts, no adverts, no analytics and no tracking.

What is stored, and where
Neon Sparks Write runs entirely in your web browser. Everything it keeps is stored by your browser, on your device, for this website only:
- Your documents, saved automatically as you type, together with up to 30 earlier versions of each (IndexedDB).
- Your settings, such as dark mode, zoom, measurement units, your name for comments, and which document was open last (localStorage).
- The app itself, so it works offline (the browser’s cache, through a service worker).
We cannot see any of this. To delete it, use File › Options › “Delete all documents stored in this browser”, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings. Clearing site data deletes your stored documents for good, so keep copies of anything important as files.
What is never sent anywhere
Opening a file reads it inside your browser. Saving or downloading creates the file inside your browser. Your documents and their contents are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. The website does not set cookies.
When your browser does connect to other sites
- Pictures from the web. If you use Insert › Pictures › From a Web Address, or paste content that contains pictures hosted on other websites, your browser loads those pictures from their original sites, just as it would when visiting a web page. Those sites can see that the picture was requested and your IP address. Pictures you insert from your device stay on your device.
- Dictation. Dictate uses your browser’s built-in speech recognition. In some browsers (for example Chrome and Edge) this sends the audio to the browser maker’s speech service to be turned into text. The microphone is only used while Dictate is switched on. Read Aloud uses your browser’s voices; some of them (such as Chrome’s “Google” voices) are online voices, which means the text being read is sent to the browser maker.
- Spelling. Spell checking is done by your browser. Some browsers offer an optional “enhanced” spell check that uses an online service; that is controlled in your browser settings, not by this app.
- Links in your documents open other websites only when you choose to follow them.
Hosting
Like any website, the web server that delivers the app to you handles your IP address and normal request details (such as the page requested and your browser type) in order to send the pages, and the hosting provider may keep short-term server logs for security. These logs are not used to identify or track you.
